In some ways, he nearly found the wolf endearing, which made very little sense when he never usually cares one way or another with animals. He liked them just fine but never really sought them out if he could help it. They just tended to be a lot more fragile than humans were. "I think you'll have to eat later." Having to hunt didn't appeal to him, nor did watching the wolf eat an animal.

Patting the wolf's head, some of the tension seeped from the line of his shoulders. "I didn't think any wolves existed here. You must be lonely."
