The first time Sage huffed at him but still relented to his presence should have told him enough, given plenty of a prediction of things to come. But he ignored the signs and tried to fool himself it would end the way every other possible fumbling interaction eventually did. Little did he know then and even right at that second how much Sage would come to mean to him. How he meant everything his drifting life of tumbling ever put together. It swirled his mind around, blurred the edges into a warm glow to set his heart aflame in rolling waves rather than the usual inferno. It spread throughout him and brought a sense of peace he never felt, especially with how much unknown the curses brought his way.
Letting Sage's presence wash over him, he pressed closer, chasing it to take everything else away. He only wanted to focus on Sage and not think about what could pull them apart or question too much about anything else with them. It worked; they worked and he didn't need to know anything else. Sage wanted him and he didn't really need more, the promises only made it better, though, each one soothing wounds he hadn't known existed along his skin and heart.
More than anything else, Sage kept him rooted and not floating off somewhere else, whether physically or figuratively. A stability existed between them and Zelo never knew he had been missing out for so long. He lost his family so long ago but it hit him how Sage gave him an actual true home he never had before. They were building something together and he couldn't have ever anticipated it. He couldn't imagine ever losing it.
Shaking slightly, he gripped onto Sage to keep them close to one another. His hips rolled again, head only lifting to look at Sage when he heard him speak. The words shook him right down to his core and his heart squeezed tightly in his chest. Oh. "Together," Zelo rasped out, lump rising in his throat, driven by the emotions swirling around them. "I'm with you. I'm here. I'm here." Clearly, Sage needed to be reassured as well. "Sage - I -" Shaking his head, he pulled his shirt off and dropped it on the ground to feel more of Sage against him.
YOU MADE THIS MORE EMOTIONAL OKAY
