[ Hopper was the one who answered the door when Mike called round to see El. He knew her schedule well enough to know when she was or wasn't home, but he still asked Hopper if she was in, earning a look from the Chief that said you know for a fact she is. He told Mike she was upstairs in her room listening to music and that he could make his way up. Trust had been built between them over the years where he felt comfortable enough to let them be on their own unsupervised, he just reminded Mike to keep the door halfway open, a rule Mike respected under his roof. He saluted the Chief before making his way upstairs, following the music...
Opening up the door to El's bedroom, he was surprised by what he saw. Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Want To Have Fun was blasting from a record player and El was dancing with her back to Mike. There was nothing serious about her dancing, they were probably the silliest dance moves he'd ever seen, but she was clearly having fun and that made Mike smile ridiculously as he watched her from the doorway.
God, was he in love with this girl.
Rather than announce his presence, he waited for her to spin around and notice him, clearly enjoying the show. ]
