Letting out a low groan, Steve ducked in and out of alleyways to make it towards the Parker residence. He probably shouldn't have risked going into public so soon after evading capture but he found talking with Peter important, especially after seeing him in the BATTLE in the first place. How could Tony be so irresponsible? Peter shouldn't have been anywhere near such a potentially lethal encounter without training and honing his abilities first. He clearly had a lot to learn and Steve wanted to make sure to help him before he slipped back into the shadows for awhile. He had plans for Secret Avengers while they worked against the Accords terms and clearing their names. T'Challa promised to work on it along with assisting Bucky, which he couldn't be more grateful for. The building loomed before him and Steve easily found a way inside of Peter's bedroom. Normally, he would have used the door and been polite about it but he didn't want to put Peter's Aunt at risk by knowing of his presence. Still a fugitive and all. "Hello, Peter." Steve gave a sheepish expression, rubbing a hand along the side of his face. "I figured we should talk about some things." The understatement of the year, honestly, because there were so many things to cover and to set it place. Peter wanted to help and while admirable, he needed more training and also needed to know the limitations. |
it's completely okay!!
The Accords kept a low churning fire deep within him and he knew the fight would continue. The governments wanted the Accords set into place but he refused to accept the documents for what they meant for not only those with enhanced abilities but for the world at large. There were often dangers no one could ever anticipate and having to go through so much red tape would put more in danger. The officials just did not understand since they didn't walk through the battlefields. Yes, they caused damage in pursuit of rescues but the so-called villains would have accomplished far worse if they hadn't intervened in time. Either way, there would be backlash and ruins incurred.
They just needed a better system on who to involve and when, which did not include Peter Parker. The kid needed to stay as far away from the battlefields as possible. Didn't he know how quickly things happened? One moment could change things forever.
Looking around the room, his eyes settled back onto Peter. "Were you debriefed at all after the battles?" Steve eventually asked, arms folded against his chest. "Do you understand about the Accords?" His face held clear contempt on simply mentioning the Accords at all. "They've been passed, regardless of how some of us feel about it." He shook his head with a soft sigh. "We're still trying to fight but some of us are -- fugitives now." Mostly, the officials needed someone to take the fall for everything they did wrong but Steve flat out refused to let Bucky endure any more pain. The man went through enough.
"I'm going to need you to keep an eye on things but stay out of the bigger battles," Steve continued, eyes drifting over towards the window. "There are some things I need to do and I'll be -- let's say out of commission for awhile." They needed a scrape goat and no one else worked for the role. They would want him as the clear 'mastermind' of the rebellion or Bucky as the clear 'criminal' of things. It didn't leave a lot of options but Steve always did what needed to be done.
