The shot goes clean through the bastard's shoulder, only missing because he wanted to, his next bullet meant for the man's left knee - before the goddamn flash of red, white, and blue runs right by him and gets in the way, scuffling with the man before he manages to run off. Frank watches this with disappointment through the scope of his weapon, never getting enough of a clean shot to put him down. He glares before getting onto his feet, staring down at Steve from up high on the roof of the same warehouse.]
Looks to me like you're the one who ruined it. [A scoff.] I left a trail to follow.

Cut off one head and two more grow back.
Mindlessly killing them wouldn't dismantle the organization for good and Steve knew he needed to consider his actions a little more. Frank's interference wouldn't help this objective whatsoever. ]
He has information I need and now he's in the wind. [ The glare lessened as he thought of something. ] If you help me track him down, I'll let you off and won't bring you in this time. [ Another pause. ] You always have to promise not to kill him either.

Thinking on it, Frank sighs and mutters something to himself before turning away from the ledge. He doesn't disappear though, simply climbing down the nearby fire escape and dropping to the floor, keeping some distance between them.]
You get all your information and then I do whatever the hell I want. [His terms. Whether they like it or not, they will always clash there.] You know I'll find him later, even if not today or the next.

Not if I decide to bring the guy in and call in reinforcements to do so. [ Frank's trigger happy approach to life really needed to cool down. Not everyone needed to meet some untimely death and besides death happened to be too quick for some scumbags. They deserved to stew in their own misery for years and years. Frank offered some the quickest way out but he probably saw it differently, as some form of personal vendetta justice.
But no. ]
How about we try this again? [ He leveled a look at Frank. ] Hello, Frank. You're going to help me find the fugitive I was after and then you're going to leave him with me. Alive. Whatever you do out of my sight is on you but as long as we are together, you are not going to just randomly kill people!
no subject
God fucking damn it.
He's still tense as he keeps a distance, jaw clenched. Steve did mention as long as they're together though. That won't be forever.]
I don't randomly kill anyone. [Putting his weapon away in his coat, Frank stalks forward closer at last, only to brush by Steve and toward the direction the man ran off. He'll leave spots of blood to trail, if anything.]

Frank apparently had a lot of skills with just as many hangups. But who didn't? They were all messed up in some way. ]
You don't have to kill anyone is the point. You could turn them over. [ He shook his head. ] One day, you're not going to make it out of one of your self appointed missions alive. You deal with the scum of the earth, Frank, and sooner or later it consumes you too.

What bothers him is getting lectured about it.
Childhood hero or not, Frank doesn't want to hear this even from Captain America. He's not a kid anymore and his view of the world is tainted beyond repair. Words of wisdom won't help him now.]
Too late for that. [He grumbles casually as they walk, keeping a couple feet between them, though Frank's looking out for signs of abnormal struggle in the woods.] How about we take this hike in silence, huh?

Letting out a deep sigh, he continued to walk along, looking for his own clues. ]
If you do need help, though - [ He trailed off, figuring Frank would fill in the rest on his own. Smart guy and all.
As they rounded a corner with a greater thicket of trees, Steve stopped walking and eyed a few of the thorny branches. Jackpot. ]
Hey, I think I got something. But be careful. This looks poisonous.
no subject
So when Steve stops, Frank does as well, looking at the thorns. There's blood glistening on the tip of one branch and Frank lets out a succinct breath through his nose.]
If it is, looks like I won't need to kill him after all.
[He knows that isn't what the Captain wants to hear, but expectations shouldn't be kept too high for Frank.
At that moment, he hears a whimper. Immediately on alert, Frank looks upward first, the tall trees bearing no low branches for climbing, and holds out a hand to shush potential rambling from Steve's end.]

But there were still plenty of comments he had for Frank at the moment, only the shushing stopping him from voicing them. He'd hear about that later.
Hands resting on his hips, he made a forward motion with one because seriously, Frank, track faster. He needed the information before the guy died or it would be silenced along with him. ]
