[Frank should have known where there was HYDRA to be found, some member of the Avengers wouldn't be too far behind. There are certain jobs he's sure to plan accordingly because he knows he could be interrupted by one annoying hero or another, but he didn't think a lone high level shithead would be enough to stir up the attention of Captain America... all by himself, to boot.

The shot goes clean through the bastard's shoulder, only missing because he wanted to, his next bullet meant for the man's left knee - before the goddamn flash of red, white, and blue runs right by him and gets in the way, scuffling with the man before he manages to run off. Frank watches this with disappointment through the scope of his weapon, never getting enough of a clean shot to put him down. He glares before getting onto his feet, staring down at Steve from up high on the roof of the same warehouse.]

Looks to me like you're the one who ruined it. [A scoff.] I left a trail to follow.

[ Glaring right back, his arms folded against his chest in his indignation. But the annoyance rose higher when Frank responded and accused him of messing things up. Seriously? Unsurprisingly, HYDRA struck a sensitive cord within Steve and he dealt with them a little more rash than with anyone else. The retribution always drummed within his mind but he knew he needed information to undo them from the inside out.

Cut off one head and two more grow back.

Mindlessly killing them wouldn't dismantle the organization for good and Steve knew he needed to consider his actions a little more. Frank's interference wouldn't help this objective whatsoever. ]

He has information I need and now he's in the wind. [ The glare lessened as he thought of something. ] If you help me track him down, I'll let you off and won't bring you in this time. [ Another pause. ] You always have to promise not to kill him either.

[If Captain America is making deals with him then he must be desperate, or at least passionate enough to sit some usual rigid rules and morals to the side. Frank knows recent events haven't exactly been in the Captain's favor but his personal view on the man hasn't changed. Rogers knows he won't say no.

Thinking on it, Frank sighs and mutters something to himself before turning away from the ledge. He doesn't disappear though, simply climbing down the nearby fire escape and dropping to the floor, keeping some distance between them.]

You get all your information and then I do whatever the hell I want. [His terms. Whether they like it or not, they will always clash there.] You know I'll find him later, even if not today or the next.

[personal profile] stevegrogers 2017-07-13 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
[ Negotiating his own terms, really? What even gave Frank the idea he had any power to do so? If Steve really wanted to, he could bring him into the headquarters for a few days of lock up. The SHIELD lock ups were notoriously terrible but better than the RAFT in the very least. Glare resting on his face, Steve shook his head. ]

Not if I decide to bring the guy in and call in reinforcements to do so. [ Frank's trigger happy approach to life really needed to cool down. Not everyone needed to meet some untimely death and besides death happened to be too quick for some scumbags. They deserved to stew in their own misery for years and years. Frank offered some the quickest way out but he probably saw it differently, as some form of personal vendetta justice.

But no. ]

How about we try this again? [ He leveled a look at Frank. ] Hello, Frank. You're going to help me find the fugitive I was after and then you're going to leave him with me. Alive. Whatever you do out of my sight is on you but as long as we are together, you are not going to just randomly kill people!
thegoodbad: (angry ☠ u talkin 2 mE)

[personal profile] thegoodbad 2017-07-17 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Of course Rogers has to go and use the reinforcements threat. Frank's distaste is evident enough in the form of a glare. If this was up to him he'd just debilitate the Captain with a bullet to a couple knees or thighs and move on, but Frank can't make himself do it. Not to him. Not even that much.

God fucking damn it.

He's still tense as he keeps a distance, jaw clenched. Steve did mention as long as they're together though. That won't be forever.]

I don't randomly kill anyone. [Putting his weapon away in his coat, Frank stalks forward closer at last, only to brush by Steve and toward the direction the man ran off. He'll leave spots of blood to trail, if anything.]

[ Always so pleasant encountering Frank Castle. Steve really had no idea why he never spent more time around the sunshiney man. With a roll of his eyes, he allowed Frank to stalk out in front of him and pick up the trail the other man left behind. Hunting and tracking happened to be one of his weaker points but he usually managed well enough if absolutely needed. The skill set happened to be one of Frank's best, though, according the records SHIELD kept on him.

Frank apparently had a lot of skills with just as many hangups. But who didn't? They were all messed up in some way. ]

You don't have to kill anyone is the point. You could turn them over. [ He shook his head. ] One day, you're not going to make it out of one of your self appointed missions alive. You deal with the scum of the earth, Frank, and sooner or later it consumes you too.

[Taking a walk through the woods with Steve Rogers was not the kind of evening Frank had planned though he doubts the same can be said for Steve. Their methods of taking care of shit is on different sides of the spectrum... not that that's so abnormal with people who Frank runs into. No one likes what Frank does. He's used to it.

What bothers him is getting lectured about it.

Childhood hero or not, Frank doesn't want to hear this even from Captain America. He's not a kid anymore and his view of the world is tainted beyond repair. Words of wisdom won't help him now.]

Too late for that. [He grumbles casually as they walk, keeping a couple feet between them, though Frank's looking out for signs of abnormal struggle in the woods.] How about we take this hike in silence, huh?

[ It didn't really matter the circumstance or who happened to be in the direct vicinity, Steve always had plenty of rousing speeches to offer. Some were meant to inspire and others to direct. Either way, Steve never really held his tongue when he felt a certain way about things. Both a strength and a weakness depending on the circumstance but he knew Frank wouldn't actually listen or change his ways. He had set his ways already and men like that were nearly impossible to direct elsewhere.

Letting out a deep sigh, he continued to walk along, looking for his own clues. ]

If you do need help, though - [ He trailed off, figuring Frank would fill in the rest on his own. Smart guy and all.

As they rounded a corner with a greater thicket of trees, Steve stopped walking and eyed a few of the thorny branches. Jackpot. ]

Hey, I think I got something. But be careful. This looks poisonous.

[personal profile] thegoodbad 2017-07-23 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
[This man couldn't have gotten too far. He was scared and out of shape, and now bleeding, which meant he'd need to rest sooner than either Steve or Frank would. On top of that, he can't travel very far in these woods in the dark without a light source.

So when Steve stops, Frank does as well, looking at the thorns. There's blood glistening on the tip of one branch and Frank lets out a succinct breath through his nose.]

If it is, looks like I won't need to kill him after all.

[He knows that isn't what the Captain wants to hear, but expectations shouldn't be kept too high for Frank.

At that moment, he hears a whimper. Immediately on alert, Frank looks upward first, the tall trees bearing no low branches for climbing, and holds out a hand to shush potential rambling from Steve's end.]
stevegrogers: (displeased)

[personal profile] stevegrogers 2017-07-27 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
[ Thanks to the past few years, Steve honestly had less moral high ground than he used to, especially with those attached in any way to HYDRA. Sure, there were chances for people to turn their lives around but very rarely did people actually stick to it. One little slip and they were back where they started, often times in a worst state than originally.

But there were still plenty of comments he had for Frank at the moment, only the shushing stopping him from voicing them. He'd hear about that later.

Hands resting on his hips, he made a forward motion with one because seriously, Frank, track faster. He needed the information before the guy died or it would be silenced along with him. ]
