[ The steady dripping of blood never really left Rick alone; his own morbid sense of an hourglass because they only knew of violence. The group either needed to kill to survive or be killed, the latter of which could not happen when they wanted to make a new world. One where blood did not have to smear on everything. A noble objective and one they were close to achieving until Negan happened. The man tore into things and spilled more blood than ever before but now they were about to do the same. The war would tip in their favor, it had to.

With a weary groan, Rick slid out of the truck after returning from a supply run but he barely had time to breathe before Gabriel came running over and explaining what happened. Negan had arrived and when he couldn't find enough supplies he deemed worthy he decided to take Beth. Rick saw red immediately and instructed Michonne to put a team together to rescue her. What kind of game did Negan think he was playing?

Creeping into the Sanctuary, Rick made his way to Negan's quarters ready for a fight but instead - ]

Beth? [ So much blood. Rick stared wide eyed, moving forward to try and tad the knife from her hand. ] Beth, we've gotta get out of here. Beth?

[ Beth hadn't argued when Negan decided he was going to be taking her with him, as though she was a product he could pick off a shelf of a grocery store and take home to use. She hadn't struggled as one of Negan's men manhandled her to one of their cars. She hadn't yelled to be let go, hadn't cried about what was happening. She was silent, mostly because she knew if she kicked up a fuss, the punishment would be killing someone she loved. That was how Negan liked to do things.

And Beth had a plan. This was her opportunity to kill him. She'd never wanted to kill anyone more in her life after watching him take Glenn from Maggie, then to walk around the house Rick called home, holding his daughter in his disgusting arms. Negan was ruining what good there was left in the world, poisoning people into supporting him. And she knew he wouldn't suspect a thing about her intentions - she looked so frail, so innocent to someone like Negan. He wouldn't see it coming at all...

And he hadn't. She'd allowed him to kiss her, to take off her shirt, leaving her in a pair of jean shorts (he liked her legs, apparently) and a bra - and when he least expected it, she attacked with a knife she'd snuck in the room with her. She'd stabbed him in his dick first, then in his head. She watched him bleed out until she was sure he was dead.

Blood. So much blood and she could distantly hear gun shots, but it doesn't occur to her it could be anyone coming to her rescue until someone's trying to pry the knife out of her hands. The shock of so much blood had stunned her into being unable to move, but Rick's voice pulls her out of her trance, releasing the knife to him. ]

I had to, Rick. [ She's shaking with adrenaline. ] After everything he did to us... [ After everything he'd continue to do. It was never going to stop unless someone did something. ] He needed to die.

[ There were not any circumstance where Rick would argue with Negan needing to die. It had been his belief from the first encounter bit after the initial mess up he knew they needed to bide their time. To not make another huge mistake to cost more lives of those they cared about.

He had a plan but Negan went and changed the rules in him. Bet the man didn't expect soft spoken Beth to do him in. A sort of justice the foul man deserved to endure.

Wiping the knife on his pants, he slid it into his belt loop in case they needed it but he had his guns ready too. His eyes drifted away from the fallen body to try and find Beth's shirt. When he found it, he helped her put it back on, his hands cupping her cheeks tenderly. ]

I know, Beth but I'm gonna need you to snap out of this. We gotta get outta here and back to Alexandria before-

I'm gonna try and find Dwight and see if he can take over and stop all the fightin' that would happen.

[ Under normal circumstances Beth would be embarrassed being caught without a shirt on in front of Rick but as it stands, she doesn't even think about covering herself back up until Rick is helping on her shirt for her.

Maybe it's Rick's touch - so different to Negan's - that snaps her out of it, or it's his words, but once they get through to her, she nods her face in his hands. ]

Okay. I know the quickest way out of here without bumping into anyone. [ She was smart enough to plan an escape route before doing this. ] I can meet you outside.

[ And maybe it's the adrenaline still running through her veins, but before Rick lets go of her, she leans up on her tiptoes and presses a kiss to his mouth. It's short and brief and Rick is probably really confused by it, but no sooner is Beth pulling back with a wide-eyed expression, like she can't believe what she just did. ]

I'm sorry I - I had to get the taste of him out of my mouth. [ While he's probably still in shock over the kiss, she grabs for one of his guns at his holster because after taking the knife from her, she's going to need some kind of protection in case, especially if they're going to part ways, seizing it before he has a chance to argue. ] I'll see you outside.

[ Negan actually being dead had seemed like a pipe dream until that very moment and Rick just could not wrap his mind around it. What would they all do now? How would the other communities react? Although, he worried most about the saviors because now they would be without a leader unless he managed to have Dwight step up into charge rather than Simon or someone else just like Negan. They needed a new balance and Beth managed to hand it to them.

He opened his mouth to tell Beth something but the kiss stopped him in his tracks. What. How. What? He didn't really have time to react, wide eyes looking at her and the shock stooped him from protesting her taking a gun. ]

Alright. Be safe. [ Snap out of it, Grimes! Mentally shaking himself, he waited for her to slip away first before he did the same to find Dwight and check on the others.

He found him without much difficulty and explained the situation. If it shocked Dwight, he kept it to himself and promised to find Sherrie to have both of them work on the takeover. He promised she would be happy to have Negan gone too but Rick couldn't be so sure.

Running through the corridors, he had a few encounters before he slipped outside in search of Beth, covered in blood by that point. Out if the corner of his eye he saw Rosita rushing out, followed by Daryl and Carl. ]

[ Beth hadn't killed anyone else on her way out, managing to navigate herself out of the building without being seen by sneaking and hiding in the shadows. But by the time she's outside to join Rick and the others, some of Negan's men have gathered to stop them. They don't know Negan is dead yet, but they don't need orders from him to shoot at Rick's group. Beth ducks behind the nearest cover she can find, eyeing the getaway car nearby.

Beth knows they need to take out the men as quickly as possible before others come. The rest of the group Rick brought with him seem to be armed as well and Beth joins in on shooting at them, managing to shoot one down. She can feel Daryl's shocked eyes on her when it happens, but there's no time for Beth to shoot him a smirk that says I told you so. She told him she could look after herself. ]

Rick, behind you! [ She calls out as a warning when she spots a Savior about to attack Rick with his bare hands. ]

[ Blood and screams painted everywhere as Rick made it outside and closer towards the car they needed to use on their way out and back towards Alexandria. Leaving wouldn't be the end of things, of course, not once they discovered Negan dead. If they worked quickly they could hopefully put Dwight in power and take out anyone else who opposed such a thing. Bringing all the communities together to work and survive.

The chaotic scene before him shouldn't have surprise him and yet. Rushing forward, he just barely heard Beth's voice screaming out the warning. He managed to turn quickly enough to push at the guy but he swiped at his legs and Rick went down hard. The wind knocked out of him but he rolled over to pin the guy and stab at his throat with a nearby pipe. Blood covered him from the incident and he stumbled back to his feet, shooting and pushing everyone towards the car. ]

Beth, you drive! We got to get out of here.

[ Beth watched with panic as Rick went down, wanting to rush towards him to help but feeling herself being pulled back by Rosita. ] Rick!

[ Luckily he recovers quickly and takes out the man who attacked him, Beth breathing a sigh of relief. If he'd died during that moment, she would have never forgiven herself.

Following Rick's instructions, she doesn't need to be told twice to drive. She flings herself into the driver's seat and once everyone is in - regardless of whether doors have been closed - Beth slams her foot on the gas. A gunshot narrowly misses her head, breaking the passenger window, but they manage to get away. She has no idea where she's going but Rosita gives her directions back to the Alexandria safe-zone. She drives fast and won't slow down until someone tells her to, even if they're a safe distance away from the sanctuary. She just wants to be home. She just wants to jump in a shower and wash herself clean again. ]

[ Flinging himself into the passengers seat, Rick managed to shut the door before Beth took off back to Alexandria. There were so many things to go over and his mind kept bouncing around to each and every one of them. What would they do without Negan in the source of power for the saviors? Without the overbearing cruelty? They needed to act quickly, of course, to place Dwight in power but first they needed to regroup.

His fingertips reached out to touch Beth's wrist. ]

You're okay, Beth, we all are.

[ He voiced, twisting his body around to check and make sure everyone made it into the vehicle. ]

First thing is gettin' clean. After that we got some meetings to have.
