[Wanda had the same idea as Steve, ordering something simple, familiar, nothing that would upset her stomach. If she was lucky it might even settle the jumpiness she's feeling. Still, with a smile at his compliment she's at least certain that some of that nervousness isn't from fear of rejection so much as anticipation of...of this. Steve. Her. Spending time together.

And clearing the air.

He dives right in, even in his round-about way, and Wanda sees no reason not to answer him.]

Every three to four months. It's fairly regular within that range, though I'm not certain if it will change after...after the last. [Since this time she was satisfied instead of simply waiting her heat out.] It's not difficult to come up with excuses for my absence. None of them seem out of the ordinary. Paperwork. Classes or extra training with this person or that. Routine medical exam, and so on. Away from the facility, however, most of those excuses don't really work.

[ There were still plenty of thing he needed to learn about the heats and what Hydra did to Wanda but at least it seemed they would have time before the next one took place. He nodded his head, mind already considering a few excuses not only for Wanda but for both of them if she still wanted his involvement. Assuming never helped anything. ]

Did you want me to join you for the next one?

[ He only paused for a moment before he continued with voicing and asking other things on his mind. Being straight forward had always been his usual state but he had never been too good with relationships or romance in general. ]

Did you want this to be just sharing heats or more than that?

[divulsion]

[Her cheeks color at once. She can't help it. As much as she's come to terms with this drawback to the experiments and gaining her powers, it's much different now that there's another person involved. Steve is involved.]

It was my thought that it would be more between us...unless you were referring to our friendship only when you said I meant something to you? [It takes effort to resist biting her lower lip, to remain relaxed.] I'm fine if friendship is all you want, I just want to make sure that things are very clear between us. Neither of us want misunderstandings, I think.

[And it's his answer that will determine whether or not she wants him to join her for her next heat. Oh, yes, she wants him, but having been with him already and sitting there now across the table from him, she's not certain that she could share only her heats with him and not feel so much more for him each passing day.]

[ Hope flooded into his chest from her words and he felt a little bolder because of them, a little voice in the back of his mind telling him to go for it and it sounded a lot like Bucky. The one who never found any issues with charming others and indulging in all kinds of romantic inclinations, at least, back in the day. The war changed so much but it didn't help with his abilities with bonding but what practice did he really have?

Reaching out, he squeezed Wanda's arm to help reassure her. ]

I want -- there to be an us, Wanda. This isn't just about heats or friendship to me. I've -- felt things for you for awhile.

[ He hoped it didn't make things awkward between them, not really considering she could feel more as well. ]

[divulsion]

[There's no awkwardness for Wanda. Far from it. The moment he gently grasps her arm and tells her he wants to be an us, the anxiety and tension begins to rush out of her. There's a sparkle in her eyes as she looks at him and reaches with her other hand to cover his. To squeeze it as she smiles across the table at him.

He's felt something for her for a while. She never knew, and maybe she never would have if not for her heat, but she does now.]

I've had feelings for you as well, even before the heat. And if you want there to be us then there is. Right now. [There's no reason to wait, is there? Emboldened by his words, she takes a deep breath and continues.] We can...date. And spend time together. And the next time I go into heat you can be there for me again.

[She bites her lip a moment, wondering if she ought to mention that they don't have to...oh hell if they're being honest she may as well go all in.]

Not that I am trying to rush you but considering what we've already done together, I wouldn't be against exploring that aspect of things as well, before my next heat. But we can take it slow of course...whatever you like.

[ Despite all the odds of what life kept tossing their way, they managed to find happiness again and not only that but with someone who understood. Because of the ice, Steve very rarely encountered anyone who understood how he felt or the lingering fear churning around inside of him of losing it all again. What if he fell into the ice again and lost another group of people who meant something to him? What if no one really saw past the history and the symbol they attributed to him?

Wanda seemed to, though, and had a way of keeping him grounded in the present moments curling around them.

With a shy smile, he nodded his head. ]

I'd like that. We can consider this date number one. [ The smile grew a little wider. ] You can plan the next one and of course I'll be there for your next heat.

Oh - yeah. We can explore things outside of the heat but maybe go a little slower with - things. Now that we have time to. If that's okay with you. I've - never really gotten a chance to do all this before.

[divulsion]

[There was a small part of her that felt a twinge, embarking on a relationship with Steve. Not because she had any doubts about him or felt anything other than joy at the prospect, but because there are simply times when she can't help but be reminded that these are things Pietro will never have for himself.

Nothing slips on her face, however, nothing changes in her expression or tone to indicate that she's thought about her brother at all. The sadness she feels is all too easily eclipsed by one of the best things that's happened to her in a long, long time.]

Gotten to do all of what before? Dating?

[She knows how things were back in the forties, during the war. She knows about Peggy. But surely he's had something since he was thawed out. It doesn't occur to her that he may not have dated much, or that he didn't have any sexual experience before her heat.]

[ So many thoughts were bouncing around in his mind but relief quickening mingled with everything else the more Wanda seemed invested in their awakening bond. A bond even outside of the whole heat business. He still couldn't believe how close they were and over and over again. More than even his wildest dreams.

Before the war, he never received a second look, during the war he had other things tobfocus on and since waking up from the ice he tended to keep to himself. Most only wanted the Cap persona and wouldn't have given him a second look in the past. Trust could be so hard to come by but Wanda saw deeper within him and still wanted something.

Grinning softly, he looked down for a moment. ]

Uh - I've never gotten to do any of it. The dating - the after.

[ Don't blush, don't blush - too late. ]

[She doesn't grasp what he means right away. Not for the first few seconds, and then the realization comes. He hasn't gotten to do any of it. Dating. Or after. After being what they'd done before they got to this date.

Her lips part with surprise, and all at once she can't help but feel terrible.]

Never? You mean with me...when I was... [His first time was when she was half out of her mind during her heat? It's hard not to feel a little horrified because, well, it had been good for her--and hadn't he said it was good for him? But it was his first time. Wanda closes her mouth, trying to calm herself though her heart is beating a little erratically now. Would he have made that choice if pheromones hadn't been involved?] I had no idea.

[Is he okay with how he lost his virginity? Knowing what she does about his past and his time with Peggy, she's floored and more than a little concerned by what he's revealed. She blushes as well, thinking back to what they'd done together...how every touch she'd given him had been the first for him. It hadn't been a mindless coupling, there had been some emotion there. She's just finding it hard to process all of this.]

[ Feeling entirely self conscious, Steve rubbed at the back of his neck for a moment. He never excelled with talking about emotional matters and certainly not with intimacy in any kings of way. His lack of experience only made it worse, especially when others tended to have certain expectations about him. Letting others think what they wanted tended to be easier but he couldn't with Wanda if he wanted them to have a real relationship and bond. ]

With Peggy, we never had time and were fighting a war. Didn't help the commandos were always around us.

[ A tight smile filled his face and he wondered if it would be too weird for Wanda to be with him now. Would she want to be with someone who had real experience to offer her and not so many hang ups? ]

Being in this time - it took awhile to feel - usually people just want Cap and think they know - they wouldn't have -

[ Sighing, his hands fell onto his lap. ] I get it if this is too weird for you.

[divulsion]

[It wasn't her intention to make him feel self conscious, and while Steve certainly doesn't project his discomfort loudly or obviously, she gets the sense of it anyway from his body language and his tone of voice. Just a hint here or there to calm her heart.

Reaching out, she grasps his hand before it hits his lap and holds it tight. She doesn't want him to regret telling her, and she doesn't want him to think that she has a problem with this at all.]

No, it's not too weird for me, that's not it at all.

[She doesn't want this to be a big thing, or make him feel worse.]

I just...[How does she even phrase this? Every concern she has is answered by something he said earlier. She means something to him, which means that he probably doesn't regret his first time was with her. It was special to him, which means that it's not as if it wasn't special for him at all for a first time...and yet--] If I hadn't been impaired, if I had known, I would have taken my time making it special for you. Not that it wasn't but I would have given you the first time that I sometimes wish I'd waited for.
