The talk of the darkness directed his attention elsewhere before he continued on the merits of certain historical aspects. "The runes have spoke of an oncoming darkness where it consumes everything to make a different image." Cryptic but prophecies tended to be and while he had plenty of personal notions, he refused to share them with a vampire. He couldn't trust many and not someone so brazen and, well, not even alive.
"A battle of all forces of the universe."

"So something big and...unknowable?" He made it a question, eying T'Challa for some kind of confirmation. "Huh. Lovecraft, eat your heart out."
Tony's fingers tapped out an absent rhythm on the table in front of him as he let the idea slide through his mind. Something dangerous enough for the furballs to put aside everything. As ridiculous as the whole idea sounded, he wasn't intending to discount that. Especially given the man sitting across from him, looking like he'd rather tear Tony's throat out than shake his hand. "What were you planning on doing about it?"

The wine arrived before he had the chance to explain more and he eagerly took a glass and filled it up. The first sip warmed him and he let out a pleased groan. "Do we have a deal with the territory or are you not authorized for such power?" A taunt but he knew the strong pride within the night prowlers and how easy they were to bend to a certain way because of it. "Say we have a deal and I'll tell you more." Also, the greed for more.

"Fine," he said with a vague wave of his hand, still grinning despite himself. "Have the space and enjoy it." If anyone else had an issue with it, they could take it up with Tony himself. He hadn't gotten to the position he had just by being able to play the game. And if they wanted the territory that badly, they shouldn't have sent someone who didn't particularly care about it.
"So let's get back to cthulhu," Tony said, eyes glinting in the light.

Setting down his wine glass, T'Challa leaned forward. "The runes detail an unspeakable horror; a darkness that will sweep in and bring shadows to all spirits. Turning everyone against come another to make the darkest natures reign free. Those who do not succumb to madness or the plagues will enjoy the new rise to power." Ingenious really to allow for people to destroy one another rather than having to lift a finger.
"Have you dealt with anything such as this? The power wouldn't have been as strong centuries ago."

"Not something I've ever heard of. I have a few contacts I can try to get a hold of to see if they know something, but I'm going to guess probably not." Either because there was nothing, or because it was being purposefully withheld. Which, actually, was a thought. He rubbed a hand absently over his chin, watching the king carefully.
"I notice you haven't tried to accuse us of having anything to do with it." Doubtless it had occurred to him. There was clearly no love lost between this man and Tony's kind, not that he blamed him. They'd been fighting for a long time, for increasingly pointless reasons.

Finishing off his glass of wine, he waved a hand off. "You and your kind are not wise enough for something this intricate and long lasting. Such little patience for the many years you all have."
With that he stood up, smoothing down his vest. "I do not have to warn you but be on guard. It will seek those with the darkest energies to fuel it stronger. That is your kind. Not much will protect you." The blood of a shifter would but he would not confess to such a thing of offer even with the tales of it being immeasurable pleasure. He never believed such tales and how good could a vampire be when they lacked a pulse, heat or breath?

Between one heartbeat and the next, he was suddenly standing directly in front of the young king without seeming to have moved at all, that same smile still in place. "Let's keep in mind that this war has been prolonged on both sides, shall we? You don't have to like me, but we are here for a purpose."
He waited just a moment longer, then made a show of taking a step back.

His fingers curled into his palms, nails elongated but only for a moment. "And it's your majesty for a king or a queen. Your highness is for a prince or princess." A little nit picky but the vampire kept pushing at him and he disliked it fiercely. "If you prove yourself useful with this ancient evil, I'll change my tune."
no subject
That said, he put his hands up, making a show of looking harmless. "You didn't have to come to this little meeting. And something tells me that something more than just your dire predictions brought you. So frankly, you can take your tune and shove it. Your majesty."
no subject
"Oh, well then, please tell me why else I came," he responded with a raise of an eyebrow. He really should have walked away and yet he stayed in place. Nails slowly turning back to normal, snarl a little less prominent.
no subject
"It's stupid and it's wasteful and apparently we have bigger things to be worried about." Just the faintest quirk of a smile at that, but Tony's eyes were still serious. "Am I wrong?"
no subject
"Be that as it may, do you have any true plans to make that happen or are you only able to state the obvious?" He questioned with a shake of his head. There were probably nicer ways to go about this but he didn't really have it in him to attempt any of them.

And just because he couldn't help himself, Tony flashed him a smirk. "I need to go find something to drink. If you'll excuse me."
