[ Clearly magic existed, knowledge Kai tried constantly to impart to Haeju. The world around them held so many enchanting secrets and mysteries, both of them apart of the fabric in a more vivid way. If only Haeju believed in the mere possibility but in the very least he knew the other experienced the stirring. It always started there, followed by the intense longing and draw to the sea. Almost to any kind of water. Things just manifested from there.
But while the goal had been ease into things, the pelt dilemma kind of fast tracked everything. The frown tugging at his lips showed his slight remorse over it. The excitement over being wanted kind of made it difficult to swell on anything else, though.
Haeju might not have understood but the drawn meant a lot! It meant everything. ]
You picked up my selkie pelt and it forged our bond. We're married now. Bonded for all eternity. You're a selkie too and that makes this stringer. You'll start feeling more things ....soon. I'm not sure how my abilities will impact you. We'll see huh!
[ Look, Haeju doesn't usually try to rain on people's parades, but he does draw some lines. Magic is one of them, and it's going to take awhile longer for Haeju to accept that the tricks that Kai shows him are acts of genuine magic, and even longer after that for Haeju to accept he's not entirely human.
It makes this whole marriage business a lot harder to accept, and for a brief moment Haeju debates closing the door for a moment, and opening it again to see if Kai has come to his senses on the other side. That does seem a little rude to do to a guy who is now convinced he's your fiancé though, so mostly Haeju just blinks slowly at everything he's being told.
Somehow this doesn't really explain things the way he'd like them explained, but it doesn't surprise him this is the one he's being given. Not from some innate understanding of selkie traditions, mind you, but because this just seems like the kind of thing Kai would toss at him. ]
You don't believe me. [ Kai breathed out with a soft sigh even if he expected the reluctance. Haeju wouldn't even accept his own selkie nature yet for whatever reason even with all the signs there right in front of him. They were always written off as something else, of course, but Haeju wouldn't be able to do it as easily with this.
The strength of the bond wouldn't allow for it. ]
Can I come in? [ They would need to be close and seated when the bond started clicking in, especially when Haeju hadn't exactly given in to his nature yet. How extra overwhelming would it be?
It worried him. ]
Tell me when you start feeling warm since that's the first sign.
[ Haeju might not be able to do it as easily, but he'll sure as hell try. It's going to take a lot more than obvious signs of magic shoved in his face to believe in magic! Like... more obvious signs of magic shoved into his face over a long period of time until his stubborn skepticism is worn down.
There's really no good reason for him to be like this, but it's weirdly hard for him to accept. He almost wants to tell Kai no, just because he's a little thrown off by this whole apparent bond thing, but something feels wrong about a flat refusal, so after a few seconds of hesitation he pushes the door a little bit wider. ]
Yeah, alright.
[ To the coming in thing, he still doesn't feel like he's suddenly going to start feeling feverish for no reason. ]
[ The lack of belief always surprised him because there were so many signs all the time! Magic had existed since the beginning of time and some were able to harness it better than others. The selkie were one of the masters, especially with a shift and a change. The water fueling them and everything around them as well. But skeptics were able to often dispel things with their absolute disregard for having an open mind. Easy enough until a bond came into play.
They were about to experience things no one could easily write off. Not even Haeju. ]
Thank you. [ He murmured and stepped inside. ] You might want to sit down soon before the water starts churning inside of you and you feel -- [ He waved his hand off, biting his lip because who knew how intense it might be. ]
[ Haeju is nothing if not great at being stubborn and closed to new ideas. At least, new ideas that completely shake up his understanding of the world. He's not against progress, but accepting the existence of magic doesn't really sound like progress to him, it sounds like lunacy.
More absurd, however, is having someone perform unexplainable feats of magic in front of you, and absolutely refusing to believe in any of it; that is definitely where the stubborn part of Haeju's personality comes in, but in his defense he got that from his mom.
He raises an eyebrow at that comment, but walks to the living room couch to sit down. He doesn't feel off.
Well... not that off, and the wording seems strange. ]
Sorry, the water churning inside me? What does that even mean?
[ While he understood being stubborn and resisting certain things in the world, there eventually reached a point of having to open your mind to something more. Something no one could easily explain through logical explanations. Perhaps, they were finally reaching said moment.
Selkie bonds were difficult to just write off and act as if they did not exist.
Following over to the couch, Kai sat down but made sure to leave plenty of space between them. ]
You probably wouldn't listen or believe me if I explained it so we'll wait for you to feel it. It'll be harder for your nature to remain hidden then.
[ An apologetic expression filled his face because he knew how different things would be very soon. ]
[ If anyone could find a way to write off a selkie bond as nothing more than some sort of viral infection though, it would definitely be Haeju. His ability to logic away most magical explanations is almost legendary at this point, and he'll be damned if he doesn't dig in his heels some through this whole newlywed process.
He's already starting to feel a little bit warm.
Fever? Embarrassment over the situation? Either one seems likely to him, and he's not ready to buy into this notion of water churning inside him, even if it does feel like something deep in a part of his body he's having trouble assigning to a specific organ is starting to stir. ]
How about you explain what you mean instead of apologizing. I mean, I won't believe you, but I still want to know what this is all about.
